Doodle Poll for next GS Committee Meeting

    Hello Fellow Graduate Students!

As we begin the new semester, I hope this email finds you renewed.  With the new year, there are exciting opportunities to become involved in with SACES!  Our graduate student committee met on January 7th, and I'm happy to say that we had many attendees who are eager to get involved with our SACES mission!

Please find the doodle poll link to vote on our next meeting day/time.  I know our lives as students are busy, but professional involvement is an important part of our journeys.  Come be a part of our next meeting in February.  All are welcome!  Attending a meeting does not commit you to anything, but allows you to explore the various opportunities available for graduate students within our organization.

The doodle poll will be open until January 19th at 5 PM central time.  Once a date has been chosen, I will send another email with the date, meeting link, agenda and minutes from our January meeting.  I look forward to meeting you all at our next meeting!!

If you have questions or would like more information, please feel free to email me at grad.rep@saces.org.

    Warmly,

Hannah M. Coyt, LPCC-S, NCC, CCMHC

ACES/SACES Call for Graduate Student Representative

Each of the five ACES regions nominates one student to serve as the ACES Graduate Student Representative (GSR). From these five nominations, the ACES Governing Council will choose one student to serve in this position. This is a three year service position: designee, current, and past GSR. The GSR must be available to attend the ACES Governing Council Meeting June 2020 in Salt Lake City, Utah and commit to attending all Governing Council meetings for his or her term.  A complete description of the ACES GSR requirements can be found here.

SACES is currently accepting applications from doctoral students who are early in their academic program (a graduate student serving as a GSR must hold doctoral student/doctoral candidate status for at least 2 years of their service and only the final year could be served as a new faculty member or supervisor) to be the SACES nominee. SACES will select a GSR nominee and an alternate. In the event that the SACES nominee is selected to serve as ACES GSR, the alternate will be appointed to the SACES Board for 2020-2021. In the event that the SACES nominee is not selected to serve as ACES GSR, the nominee will be appointed to the SACES Board for 2020-2021.

To apply, please email the following materials in one PDF to Elizabeth Villares at president@saces.org

    (1) A cover letter describing your educational and other relevant experiences to the position, including your previous and/or current involvement with ACES and SACES.

    (2) A current CV

    (3) Your answer to this question (posed by ACES): “What would be different in a year service position that would show it was useful, that you were the right person to apply, and that ACES was right to have selected you?

    (4) A video (minimum of 5 minutes) that discusses (a) Your goals as outlined in their submitted statement referencing what would be different in a year of service; (b) Your understanding of what this role does and the necessary level of commitment it will take. Please share your video from a cloud storage platform (i.e., Dropbox, Google Drive) and reference the URL link in your cover letter.

Applications are due Friday, January 3, 2020.
